Choosing yourself comes at a cost.

Bueno you beautiful hero you...

Piggy-backing off my email last Friday:

(Yes, I intentionally left the word "way" out of Friday's headline to drive my point home).

One reason you should choose yourself when life isn't working out as planned is this:

There are only a few things you can control in life.

By that, I'm talking about your attitude, your (mental & emotional) health, and the people you consciously surround yourself with.

This obviously makes you the sole person to blame when your life spins out of control, but it also puts you in the captains' seat for creating a different (hopefully better) future.

When you begin to live with intention people around you will take notice. And, your eyes will be opened to the full cost of choosing yourself.

By choosing yourself, you're swimming upstream and breaking away from the herd. This is not a popular position. And, some of your friends will take it personally. You might even lose a few. But, when you stop and think about it, has trying to make everyone else happy ever lead to your own fulfillment?

By choosing yourself, you're definitely going to miss out on some things. Don't let FOMO get the best of you. There's no doubt you're gonna miss out. But, you'll be gaining a competitive advantage by staying true to your convictions and simplifying your life.

You don't need to make other people happy all the time.

You don't have to feel bad about choosing to feel good.

And, you definitely don't have to regret taking care of yourself. Because at the end of the day, you are the only one who can.

This sort of intentionality makes people uncomfortable.

Let them be.

It's their battle to fight. Not yours.

Focus on what you can control and influence instead. And, let go of all the other madness - like what people think about you. It's really none of your business anyway.

If you want to change the world, start with yourself. The battle is within, not out there somewhere.

Here's to simplifying your life...
