Steverino shares why sleep is underrated...

Bon Jia brilliant people...

My Grandma used to say, 'Nothing good ever happens after midnight'. I would roll my eyes and think to myself, 'Grandma doesn't get out very much'.

But, you know what? She was right.

These days I get about 8 hours of sleep a night. Back in my bachelour days, this would have been an absolute freaking miracle.

I spent most of my life as a night owl...

When I met my wife, I should have interviewed her more before things got serious...

You see, she wakes up at 430am religiously, something she had done her whole life. It took me about 10 years to get on her schedule...

Yes, folks, bad habits die hard.

Eventually with the encouragement of a few good friends (And the threats, shaming & daily reminders from my wife), I too joined the pre-5am club.

But, I've discovered the amazing benefits of going to bed and waking up early:

  • You have the best part of the day to yourself...
  • You decrease your stress levels...
  • You store less fat (Yes, folks you get skinnier by sleeping more)...
  • You make better decisions...
  • You increase your energy levels...
  • You give your brain crucial time to repair itself...
  • You decrease your moodiness & increase your positivity...
  • And, heaps of other amazing things, too.

My point is that most people are sleep deprived. Especially, the uber-busy-always-on leaders out there running around from one emergency to another.

Insert most common excuse I hear: 'I'm just wired this way'.

Nope.

Truth be told, you rewired yourself this way.

Years and years of bad sleep patterns have caused you to be a lesser version of yourself.

Sorry. Just the facts.

But, the good news is that getting just 15 extra minutes of sleep a night can drastically improve how you feel and your overall energy levels.

So, put down your smartphone and stop the late night social media bingeing...

After all, your ability to own tomorrow always starts the night before.

Here's to night owls becoming early morning birds...
