Steverino's Rules for Living the Good Life

G'day you likable larikin...

I recently read Jordan Peterson's: 12 Rules for Living, An Antidote for Chaos, and it made me do some deep thinking about what my rules for living are...

According to Merriam-Websters, a ‘rule’ is a ‘principle governing conduct or behaviour’.

So, here are my rules for living (in no certain order of importance):

Rule #1 Give more than you take...
Living a generous life is not only fulfilling, it actually makes the world a better place in the process.

Rule #2 Say less, do more...
Talk is cheap in today’s world, which is why actions trump lip service. If you want to know what a person believes watch how they live.

Rule #3 Observe then engage...
So many people rush into the fray without first considering the consequences of their choices and actions. To do so is to add to the chaos and potentially cause more harm.

Rule #4 Take care of what you’ve been given...
Whether it’s talents, time, health or a pair of shoes, when you respect and appreciate what you have, you’ll be less likely to take it for granted.

Rule #5 Laugh at yourself and learn from your mistakes...
The worst thing is to be preoccupied with yourself by taking yourself too seriously. You’ll end up missing out on the gift of friendship and the joy of being alive.

Rule #6 Go outside...
Literally and figuratively. Get out in nature. And, get out of your comfort zone. You’ll discover so much about yourself by doing both.

Rule #7 Be curious...
Wonder and childlike curiosity are two attributes that you should never grow out of. Without them, you’ll stop growing.

Rule #8 Love...
It’s almost a given with this question, but it’s probably the thing that scares you the most. Let yourself be loved, and don’t be afraid to love others. It’s why we’re here.

These aren't hard and fast rules...

Just principles I strive to live by daily.

I'd love to know what resonated with you the most?

And, if you could add one to the above list, what would it be?

Here's to living life on your terms...
