Steverino: The One Skill No One Ever Taught You...

Happy day you creative and intelligent legend...

Before the age of seven I was taught:

  • How to walk...
  • How to feed myself...
  • How to talk...
  • How to dress myself...
  • How to read...
  • How to write...
  • How to say I'm sorry...
  • How to be kind...
  • How to fight...
  • How to take care of my stuff...
  • How to do chores around the house...
  • How to commute to school...
  • How to save money...
  • How to ask for permission...
  • How to ask for forgiveness...
  • How to say the pledge of allegiance...
  • How to have good personal hygiene...
  • How to make my bed...
  • How to swim...
  • How to throw a baseball...
  • How to ride a bike...
  • How to say NO and when to say YES...
  • And, about a thousand other small things you might teach a hyper-active-never-sit-still kinda kid like me.

But, you know one thing that I was never taught?

How to dream.

You see, my smart amigo, I didn't need to be taught that...

Nope.

It was already hard-wired inside of me.

And, it's still there in both of us.

Sometimes we forget that.

It's kind of like putting on an old jacket and finding a hundred bucks in your pocket that you forgot about, only better.

I think life has a funny way of beating the ever-living-sh%$ out of us over time and we forget the power of our imagination...

After enough heartache and setbacks, we stop dreaming altogether.

We get in line. And, do what we're told to do, etc. etc.

But you know what? We never lose the capacity to imagine what could be.

Nope.

Never ever.

Dreaming is kind of like riding a bike, once you know how you simply know how.

You may not own a bike (just like you may not be in a position to think outside the box), but that doesn't mean you've lost the ability to hop on it and pedal off into the distance until the streetlights come on telling you it's time to race home for dinner so that you won't get in trouble.

What about you?

Are you too afraid to dream, again?

It's not too late...

Until it is.

Just something to think about as we tip over into the second half of 2018.

Here's to a better and brighter future...

Steve Knox
